The Perception series is a collection of fluid abstract diptychs that I created in 2015. Each piece is made up of two 12" x 12" canvas panels. These pieces began with symmetrical applications of brown and white paint, which serve as the background for a splash of colours. Deep red, browns, gold, navy blue, buttery yellow, green and grey paints were splashed onto the canvases and blown around with air to create fluid organic patterns. Once dry, these colourful areas were outlined by hand in glossy black paint.
The Perception paintings have wires on the back so they are ready to hang. Edges have been finished with clean black paint. Each piece has been signed by the artist on the front and back of the canvas.
