Now Is The Time is a mixed media barcode painting I finished in 2022. It is the fourth painting I completed from my Recycling Project series. 

It’s funny how inspiration works… I started this painting back in 2014 and really liked how the barcode turned out, but I got stuck trying to figure out how to finish it, so It sat in my pile of “work in progress” until now. Fast forward 8 years, I woke up one morning totally confident about how to finish this piece! It was like a lightbulb went on and I finally knew exactly what to do.

I have titled this painting “Now is The Time” because it is a fitting name for the journey I am on this year.

Now Is The Time was created on a canvas that I stretched myself a very loooong time ago. The surface was covered in pages from an old Russian book. Full disclosure - I have no idea what the book was about or what it says, I just think the Russian alphabet is neato. Had I known what the current political climate would be, I likely would have opted for a different book. 

I loved how Now Is The Time turned out so much that I decided create a whole series of paintings like it - coming Fall 2022! This painting has been signed by the artist on the front and back of the canvas. Edges have been finished with black paint.
