KALAMALKA LAKE XI
small original abstract PAINTING BY DANIELLE HARSHENIN
Title: Kalamalka Lake XI
Size: 6" x 6" Medium: Acrylic on Cradled Wood Panel Year Made: 2019 Price: CA$75 Kalamalka "Kal" Lake is located between Lake Country and Vernon, BC. During the warmer months, calcium carbonate in the lake forms crystals that reflect sunlight which results in a captivating exhibition of blues, greens and teals. There is a longstanding rumor that Kalamalka means "lake of many colours". It is one of the many natural wonders that the Okanagan Valley has to offer!
Pieces in my Kalamalka Lake series were made on cradled wood panels and have vibrant high-gloss surfaces. I used a palette of brilliant blues and teals which created flowing water-like patterns reminiscent of what you see when you open your eyes under water and look up towards the sun. Edges were finished with clean black paint. There is wire attached so this piece is ready to hang on your wall! This painting has been signed by the artist on the front and back. |
