This is a post about Tombstone Park, Yukon - 1 of 13 paintings in my 2024 Canadian Landscape series. If you would like to read about the series as a whole, you can find that post here. Tombstone Park, YukonTombstone Park, Yukon was the fifth painting I completed from my Canadian Landscape series. It was completed in July 2023. My goal for this series was to capture the essence of each province and territory in a painting.
I was captivated by the jagged edges of these unique mountain formations that really do look like tombstones. I was inspired to do a dark greyscale painting with a bright northern lights sky. Very occasionally, I will get a vision for a painting that I want to make, and it will come together relatively effortlessly as I envisioned as long as I keep putting one foot in front of the other. Tombstone Park was one of those paintings. It was satisfying to make. The next painting I completed from this series was Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia. Thank you for reading! Be sure to say hello in the comments. You can also follow me on social media for updates about this series, new work, and upcoming shows.
