Welcome to my website! I’m Danielle - a self-taught Canadian artist, passionate about creating abstract paintings and mixed media art. I work from my home studio in Lake Country, BC.
Although I have always appreciated the arts, I didn’t begin experimenting with paint until 2006. I was expecting my first child and was in search of a new hobby to entertain myself at home. After a trip to my local art supplies store, I was hooked. Everything I know about painting has been learned through trial and error. I thrive on diversity and change, so my painting style is always evolving. I consistently love texture and layering effects. My primary medium is acrylic paints, but I also love to play with oil pastels, spray paints, and collage elements.
I am very much an “all or nothing” personality type. I go through extreme phases of painting nonstop for several weeks, and then may ignore my studio for months. Inspiration comes to me as the universe permits, I don’t force it. Painting is not my “day job” (in case you’re curious, I provide HR and marketing services to small businesses in the Okanagan!) because I feel that if I had to paint, I wouldn’t love it as much. Painting feeds my soul and I intend to keep it that way.
I absolutely LOVE working on commission projects and accept them as often as I can. Sometimes a client’s idea is all it takes to kick me back into my studio. In 2020 I began exploring commission work on alternative surfaces – such as Muskoka chairs and coffee tables, which has opened up a whole new realm of possibilities! I would love to continue exploring new “canvases”, so if you have an unconventional idea, don’t be shy to send me an email!
Thank you for being part of my journey.
